🛶 Canoe Bivvy, June 2021

St Mary's Loch in the borders. Tom was on tour visiting Adam. Nick and I went along to crash the party. Arrived after midnight. They'd already set up camp on the other side of the loch. Sent a rude message across the loch in morse code. Wish I knew morse code - my grandfather did. Van tour for Tom & Adam. Had to decide between kipping in the van by the main road or crossing the loch in a canoe and sleeping in my bivvy bag. Opted for the latter. Scary wobbly canoe ride across. Warm night in bivvy bag - only second ever. Brief shower during the night but didn't get wet. Beans for breakfast and canoed back across the loch. While they did a second run for kit & Nick, I had a swim. Stopped on the way home to do my first ink sketch of the campsite from a photo taken from the canoe.
