🏃🏼‍♂️ Pennine Journey, May 2021

Dad got an email from a friend casually asking if he was interested in supporting Brian on his project. I got far more excited about it than him. We offered to join Brian as he ran past my parent's house - roughly Blanchland to Acomb. Despite only planning to join for a small section it was still nerve-wracking making sure we had the right kit for ourselves and supplies for Brian. We were early on Saturday so drove to Rookhope and met his support crew. We let him climb Bolt's Law and drove round to meet him at Ramshaw. Ramshaw is very remote so we were surprised to see a convoy of classic tractors drive past! Ran through the woods to Blanchland where Brian had a break. His wife Susan and son Rich were doing a great job supporting him. Then we ran up the hill and over to Slaley Forest, through Hexhamshire and into Hexham. I found it incredibly exciting to contribute to such an amazing project.

At around 5pm we arrived in Acomb and we handed over to Elaine who was supporting Brian for the next leg to Greenhead. Offered Elaine a lift back from Greenhead. Collected Elaine at 1am.

Rested on Sunday feeling pretty weary. On Sunday afternoon we got a call from Susan to say that Brian was short of support for the Sunday night shift...

To be continued...
